We began blending our teas on May Day 1972 with a concept of what teas could be that seemed different, by far, from what was currently offered.  We believed that they could be emotive;  mingling perceptions that are both old and new, familiar and yet delightfully strange;  exciting with a promise of romance in life instead of mere existence;  teas as complex as good wine, yet simple as a day in May.
